It is clear from the outset where the roots of this guitar lie. Leo’s original was a total game changer in the guitar world.
Featuring a light weight Swamp Ash body paired with a beautiful birds eye maple neck the Shoreline is the perfect blend between tribute and innovation. The swamp ash delivers a very lively response and a fast attack to the note, rich with bass while balanced with a sweet treble. When paired with the hollow snap of the bolt on birds eye maple neck it really is a classic combination.
The Shoreline also includes many modern features to bring it up to date with the 21st century.
The easy access neck join and hand carved heel design allows the player to get right to the top frets very comfortably. The modern 12 inch fingerboard radius and medium jumbo frets make for easy playability and clean string bending. Also featuring the Wilkinson WT3 bridge with adjustable brass saddles to deliver a really authentic vintage T style tone while also being to set intonation accurately.
Continuing with using only the finest components these Shoreline guitars are fitted with Bare Knuckle pickups, that are hand made in the UK. The set that I use as standard in these Shorelines is a special recommendation after a long conversation with the guys at Bare Knuckle to discuss the tonal aims of this model. The conclusion is the fantastic combination of a Black guard 52 neck with a Black guard 50 bridge. They are really open sounding pick ups, very warm and hollow in the neck and all the clang and twang you could want in the bridge. (other sets can of course be specified by the customer)
The Shorelines are fitted as standard with a 4 way switch to allow an extra neck and bridge in series option, which produces a fuller fatter tone closer to a humbucker sound.
All in all this makes for a very versatile instrument. While steeped in tradition it is also unique in just as many ways.
The elegant curves of the original body shape balance well either on a strap or on your lap. The Birds eye maple neck is finished with an organic hand rubbed oil finish, which brings out the natural beauty of the wood and feels so smooth and silky to the touch.
The body is finished in Nitro Cellulose for an authentic vintage vibe.
